Which documents do you need?

  • Title deed (titre de propriété)
  • Technical diagnostics file (DDT): energy (DPE) and, depending on the property, asbestos, lead, electricity, gas, termites and risks
  • Recent property tax notice (taxe foncière)
  • For apartments: documents from the co-ownership (copropriété)

How does a sale in France work?

Buyer and seller sign a preliminary contract (compromis or promesse de vente), usually at a notaire. The buyer then has a legal cooling-off period. A few months later the sale is completed with the final deed (acte authentique) at the notaire.

Frequently asked questions

Can I sell my house in France without an estate agent?

Yes. Private sales (de particulier à particulier) are common. The notaire handles the legal transfer.

Which diagnostics do I need?

Always an energy diagnosis (DPE); others depend on the age, type and location of the property. A certified diagnostician tells you which apply.

Can I sell from abroad?

Yes. You can sign through a power of attorney (procuration). We help you organise the steps.
